Louis Thien Van Nguyen, 75, of Lacey, passed away January 12, 2022 at Providence St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia, WA. He was born on July 23, 1946 in Phung Hiep, Vietnam to parents Andrew Doc Van Nguyen and Monica Nhan Nguyen.

On July 23, 1968, Louis married Mary Thu Trinh Pham in Cantho, Vietnam. Louis was a high school Vietnamese literature teacher while they lived in Vietnam. Louis received his BA in Human Services from Western Washington University and his MA in Theology from Seattle University. Louis and Mary settled in Everett, WA for 33 years. During that time Louis was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish, the Knights of Columbus and was Chairman of the Vietnamese Community from 1990-2000. Louis and Mary moved to Lacey to be closer to family in 2017 and joined Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Louis enjoyed reading, especially spiritual books. He loved education and learning, put others first and lived to share his faith!

Louis is preceded in death by his father, Andrew Doc Van Nguyen, mother, Nhan Thi Nguyen and sister, Ro Thi Nguyen. He is survived by his beloved Mary Thu Trinh Pham, his two sons, Abbot Marion Qui-Thac Nguyen and Mr. Benedict Phuoc Nguyen, three daughters, Linh-Thi Nguyen, Bich-Thao Nguyen, and Phuong-Thanh Nguyen, three brothers, Trieu Van Nguyen, Sang Van Nguyen, and Minh-Tuan Nguyen, six sisters, Anh Thi Nguyen, Choi Thi Nguyen, Anh-Thu Nguyen, Ngoc-Thuy Nguyen, and Nga Thi Nguyen and seven grandchildren.
