Samuel “Sammy” Jose Carbonel, 46, of Olympia, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at St Peter Hospital . Sammy was born in Isabela, Philippines to Manuel and Perla Jose Carbonel. He grew up in the Philippines and received a degree there in Psychology. Sammy was the current president of Carbonel Funeral Homes in the Philippines. He was in charge of six funeral homes there. Sammy came to the United States in the 1980’s. He was very proud to be a U.S. citizen. Sammy spent the last 12 years working for Woodlawn and Forest Funeral Homes. He enjoyed life. He never missed an opportunity to play a practical joke on those he cared about. He enjoyed cooking, cleaning around the house and was a very artistic person. Sammy was very generous with his time and talents, he always took time to train and give advice to better those around him. Sammy loved funeral cars. He was always looking at the newest models. He bought them too, then sent them home to the Philippines. Sam’s passion for the funeral industry he shared with all he came in contact with.
Sam is survived by his wife, Francia Evelyn Carbonel; His three daughters Shalyn, Shaina, and Shanelle all of Olympia, WA; His mother Perla Carbonel; his sister Amalia Carbonel; his brothers Manuel Carbonel Jr (Miriam), Noel Carbonel (Beverly); his Sister Amielyn Pine ( ) all of the Philippines.
Funeral Services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 6pm – 9pm. Sammy will be returned home to Isabela, Philippines for Interment.
