Joseph F Williams, 94, died June 19, 2016 at his home in Lacey, WA surrounded by family after a long battle with several serious illnesses.

Mr. Williams was a veteran of WWII, where he served honorably under General George Patton in the Battle of the Bulge, in the U.S. Third Army, 4049th QM Truck Company. He was awarded five Bronze Battle Stars and the WWII Victory Medal.

He was born in New Orleans, LA on December 7, 1921, and spent his childhood as well as many adult years in Chicago, IL, before moving in his later years to the Seattle area. Having spent many years as a jazz drummer, Mr. Williams also enjoyed several other passions such as tailoring, carpentry, working on cars and mastering and competing in billiard tournaments. His success in many fields can be directly attributed to his natural musical, mechanical, artistic and athletic ability. His greatest joy though, was in sharing conversation with his family and many friends.

Many years after the end of WWII, Mr. Williams and his family returned to France where he found and was reunited with the French family he met in 1944.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Diane, and two children, Craig J. Williams and Frederica E. Williams. He will be remembered by all as a loving husband and father, and for his simple enthusiasm for living life to the fullest.
