I wait eagerly every year for firefly season. I absolutely love them and watch them every night at dusk, fascinated by their light and beauty. They come out most when it's warm and humid and their season is short. Yesterday, it wasn't humid, and it was only a bit warm, but less than an hour after hearing about you being gone, the fireflies started their dance for the very first time this year. There weren't just a few like usual, there were many. It's early for them, and it was almost chilly, and yet, there they were! Jeffy, you were like a firefly, so beautiful, so full of light, giving everyone that happy, warm feeling when around you that we couldn't help but feel happy and smile. You were an incredible person that, like the fireflies, shines so brightly, but just for a little while and then is gone. Leaving me feeling sadness and full of memories. I hope the fried chicken in Heaven is extra crispy and that you will be at St. Michael's side as one of God's chosen protectors against the evil forces of the world. I miss you my friend. Thanks... Thanks for being you and letting me into your light.

Jeff, You recently told me you could hardly wait until you got to the Rainbow Bridge where all the animals you loved so much were waiting for you. Boo and Meow Meow. Both Shadow and Shadow. Missy Rat. Rusty. Mrs. Smith. Chip and Dale, and many others. You said when you get to Heaven you wanted to sit down and have conversations with Abe Lincoln, JFK, and my dad. You are there now. No more bad back days. No more nightmares. No more. Be at peace my Jeffy Bear, you of all people deserve it. love, Sara

I had known of Jeff over many years due to our local law enforcement careers. Although we were never face to face friends, we became very good friends on facebook about one year ago. We would both post controversial comments about anything really. We did not hold back! We also found that we had many things in common regarding law enforcement. We facebook PM'd very often and I had a way to make him laugh. Jeff would always state, "John, you crack me up, bro!" I stated to him that was my mission... again he would crack up in laughter (I could visualize only). Jeff confided very sensitive and private things to me and we developed a great respect and trust for one another. Jeff stated that he wanted to go Bigfoot tracking and gold panning together. These were nice thoughts, but they never materialized. It was my intent and now regret that I never got to physically see him or associate with him. I really wish it could have happened. I tried. (Yes, I am shedding tears right now... really). Jeff, I considered you a "brother". I enjoyed our time on facebook and I miss you already. RIP Jeff brother, and perhaps somehow, someday we'll meet again. (I am upset and crying now.........)

I will miss you my friend. The years at TCSO were fun having you as a partner, Your fear of clowns was funny. But your biggest fear was of the Beatles in clown outfits showing up at your house in the middle of the night. I don't believe God will allow any clowns to be in the area of heaven that you will be patrolling. Rest in peace my friend.
