I worked with and for George for 16 years and he is one of the greatest men I have had the pleasure to know. George was a very rare individual. He was the best boss I have ever had, a great friend and a brother in Christ.

Dear Oldham Family, My name is Bill Noble. I'm deeply sorry to hear the news of George's passing. I'm a friend and former colleague of George when he was employed with the WA State Attorney General's Office. I have a story to share that I hope will bring you some laughter. Some time ago during one of our normal work days I walked in to George's unit to ask him some questions about a particular matter. I noticed on the counter nearby that he had one of those big plastic tubs of red licorice. Well, I couldn't resist asking for some. George said "sure help yourself" but he had a slight grin on his face. I just thought George was in an extra special good mood that day! So, I took a bite of the licorice and to my shock and utter surprise it was that VERY sour licorice the kind that gets you right behind your cheeks and I winced for a few moments and said to George "what the heck is that stuff!?" I've never tasted anything so sour! My face definitely showed the reaction for sure. George laughed so hard I thought he needed to take a chair. I said to George..."real funny George, real funny" which made him laugh even harder. From that day forward and for years it seemed whenever I saw George in the hallway or at other business functions George would say to me "Hey Bill, want another licorice"? Then laugh his you know what off! I always gave him a dirty look jokingly of course. So, this is how I will remember George always and especially when I see red licorice in the stores! Watch out.
