Frank Erskine Lamar, Jr. January 21, 1932 – March 12, 2015
Frank died peacefully after battling Parkinson’s disease for many years. He was born in Sioux City, IA and spent most of his years in Washington State. As a graduate of Seattle University in 1961, Frank became an Avionics Engineer at the Boeing Company for 26 years. Prior to that, Frank served in the US Army as a surveyor while also attending school at the University of Alaska. After his retirement from Boeing, Frank developed and managed apartment complexes. This entrepreneurial spirit led Frank to creating several other successful business ventures.
Frank served in various positions in Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was an active member of different parishes he attended including St. Francis of Assisi in Burien, WA and Sacred Heart in Lacey, WA, to include being an Eucharist Minister. Frank also volunteered and held leadership roles as Committee Precinct Officer in 2004 in Allyn, WA, the Grapeview Water Festival, and served two terms as the President of the Avion Travelcade Club.
From his time with the Army Corp of Engineers, Frank had the mechanical skills and ingenuity to fix just about anything – from building the family cabin on Lake Nahwatzel to swapping out a VW engine or building a TV from a Heath kit. Frank was always willing and able to use his skills to help others. Frank was an avid golfer, starting in his teen years, and had an excellent short game. His ability to play diminished in his later life, but not his enthusiasm to watch tournaments and stay connected to the game, not to mention playing chess and cards.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Eileen, sons William, Gerard, Steven, David, Michael and Charles; daughters Jane McKenzie and Mary Cabe (deceased); step-sons Raul and Trevor Ainardi; 16 grand-children and six great-grandchildren. Frank/Dad/Grandpa/Great-Grandpa loved his family and friends and was well loved in return. He will truly be missed and will live forever in our hearts.
Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 812 Bowker St., Lacey, WA on Wednesday, March 18th at 9:00 a.m. Graveside service will be following at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, P.O. Box 3805, Lacey, WA 98509
