Graveside services will follow Catholic Funeral Mass at Woodlawn Cemetery, 5930 Mullen Rd SE, Lacey, WA

Florentina Garcia Soriano
Florentina Soriano passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 2017. She was born in Binalonan, Pangasinan, Philippine Islands on November 23, 1937 to Eugeno and Maria Garcia.
Florentina grew up in the PalaresAsingan area of Binalonan, Pangasinan, PI. In 1955 she met and married her husband, Felipe Soriano (previously deceased 2013). Felipe was a US soldier and served as an infantryman in Korea. They had a daughter Rosemary in 1958. In 1961 they relocated to Ft. Lewis Washington. Shortly after Felipe was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, they settled in Olympia and had a son, John.
She worked at various restaurant related jobs. Florentina alsoworked one season at a salmon cannery in Cordova AK, and eventually began work as a laborerin 1974 at Ostrom Mushroom Farms in Lacey. After 32 years of employment, Florentina retired in 2006.
Florentina enjoyed spending time with family & friends, shopping, site seeing, cooking, and going out to eat.In the past decades she had taken various trips to the Philippine Islands, and more recently to local recreational areas including Ocean Shores, Lake Chelan, and Leavenworth. Her pastimes included cooking, gardening, word search, and most of all doting on grandkids.
She is survived by her son John (wife Barbara), grandchildren Dustin Soriano (wife Melissa), Barry White (wife Ufi), Misty Carter (husband Antonio), and great grandchildren Christano White and Ava Carter. She is also survived by her brother Benito Garcia (wife Tina), niece RebeccaDaniell, and nephew Randy Garcia.
Florentina was a very loving, caring, and generous soul, and was always protective of her family and friends. She was loved by many. Florentina will be truly missed.
Services will be held Sacred Heart Church, Friday Sept. 15 at 9:00 am. Viewing will be 5-8 pm, Thurs. Sept. 14 at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
