Fortunately the world is blessed with people like Gene who leaves this earth with many accomplishments that make it a better place. His working life (as he used to say, trying to keep his boss in the dark about what he was doing); his community contribution life; his special humor, tempered with impatience with nonsense; his devotion to Shirley; and the accomplishments of family all attest to the difference he made. Hope Shirley is doing all right.

Dear Dziedzic Family: I am so saddened to hear of the death of Mr. Dziedzic. I did not know him but I do know three of his children and they are exceptionally fine people. So a great credit to Mr. Dziedzic for raising children who have contributed a great deal to their communities, employers, friends and those less fortunate or trying to find their way. I'm sure he was so very proud. Lucille Christenson

I was sorry to hear of Gene's passing, and in reading his obituary I was struck by what an exemplary leader he was in an unobtrusive way. Family meant a lot to him, and I was pleased to have a long association by teaching several of his children over a lot of years. Gene and Shirley were leaders in Lacey before there was a Lacey--true believers in being involved, and they were involved in a lot of things. I think his children accepted his legacy and lived up to it in fine fashion. Even though our paths did not cross often after his kids left school, he left his mark on the community. He will be greatly missed.
