Ernest R. Howald Ernest R. Howald born March 9, 1925 passed away on June 6, 2016. He was born in the Alsatian town of Wissembourg, France. During WWII he was drafted into the German army because Wissembourg was German territory. During his service he was captured and put in to a prison camp in Italy. While there he recognized a fellow from his home town that was in the French army. Because Wissembourg had become French territory Ernest was put in the French army till the end of the war. He became a master cabinet builder. Then in 1955 moved to northern Germany. In 1963 the family immigrated to America and settled in the Olympia area and started his cabinet business that is still operating today. He was a fantastic husband, father and grandfather that is loved and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Brigitte; sons, Norbert and Alf (wife Janet and grandson Bryce). Also his sister, Erna in France, and numerous nieces and nephews. A service will be held at a later date.
