Corey M. Looper
July 11, 1989 – July 27, 2020
Corey was born at Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Roy & Kimber Looper. As an “Army Brat,” Corey had an opportunity to travel the world. Regardless of where he lived, Corey made friends quickly, and everyone loved and adored him.
Corey graduated from River Ridge High School in 2007 and immediately dove head-first into life. He worked at Fred Meyer in the Bakery Section (cause “coming home smelling like bread is better than smelling like fish”). As a Customer Support Tech at Verizon, his great voice (of which he had quite the range of impressions) always got him complements. For the past seven years, Corey enjoyed working for Woodspear Properties / Wilderness West Apartments, starting as a groundskeeper and working his way up to Lead Maintenance Tech. Corey took pride in his job, learning new skills, teaching others, and one of his proudest moments was when he obtained his Pool Maintenance Certification.
Corey loved an array of movies and was an avid reader and would read anything he could get his hands on; he could spend hours in a library or book store. He taught himself how to play the guitar, and he loved all types of music. Corey started as a very picky little eater that would gag on Jello and wouldn’t eat meat unless his Grammy said it was bear, but became quite the “foodie” over the years and loved to cook, experiment with spices, and was always ready to try new things. He still gagged on Jello, though.
Corey loved to visit new places and experience new things, from holding a baby kangaroo to eating Foie gras in Las Vegas. One of his favorite places to visit was Las Vegas; he loved the heat, the atmosphere, and the variety of restaurants.
Corey also loved all animals, from the baby skunks in Montana that he was determined to touch (he didn’t) to the little squirrel that knocked on his back door to be let in (he did). Animals, tame or wild, seemed to gravitate toward him, and his goal was to “boop” every one of them on the nose.
Corey is survived by his wonderful fiancé Ashly, his parents Roy & Kimber, and countless family and friends. We will always remember Corey with love and know we will see him again someday. May he rest in peace.
