Charlene Marie (“GG”) Tafoya-Henderson

Charlene Marie Tafoya-Henderson, 79, of Olympia, Washington passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 13, 2020.  Charlene was born on May 16, 1941 in Olympia, Washington to parents Edward and Mary Tafoya.  She was one of nine children.  She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years Paul Henderson, sons Dwayne and Timothy Webb, daughter Debbie Kendall, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sister Mary “Crusie” Tafoya-Pleshe’, and brothers Stanley, Pete, and Paul Tafoya.

Charlene was a beautiful person and always wanted to take care of people. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She met her husband Paul in 1982 and married him on August 13, 1998. They loved each other with all their hearts.  She loved her family unconditionally; She loved her children and was so proud of them; she would always have a smile on her face and get a twinkle in her eye when she talked about her grandchildren and great grandchildren, it was so beautiful.

In her earlier years Charlene worked as a Hostess/Server and Bartender at the Golden Carriage.  She loved her job and made many personal connections over the years; her ability to touch the lives of others was so amazing.  She had such a contagious personality, full of spunk and sassiness.

Charlene loved going on long weekend trips to the beach with her husband Paul, they had so much fun going to different Casinos, she loved to play those slot machines. They loved to dance and listen to all kinds of music from classic country to Elvis Presley.  She was always excited to watch the Mariners and Seahawks on television, sometimes we weren’t sure if she was a fan or the actual coach.

Charlene was such a classy woman and quite the fashionista; she loved her clothes and was always looking beautiful. She made sure she had her hair done every week, her makeup was always done to a tee, and oh how she loved her red fingernail polish.

Most importantly she loved holidays with her family, especially birthdays, where she loved serenading you with a special Happy Birthday song.  Every Christmas season she enjoyed having the house decorated with lights and all sorts of Christmas decorations, she made sure that her family was always together for a Christmas dinner on Christmas day.

She would never worry about things she wasn’t able to change and would always say to her husband Paul “It’s too late to worry about it now”. She will truly be missed by her family and everyone that she has touched.  Her memory will live in our hearts forever.

A viewing will be held for all family and friends on Saturday, August 22 from 11:30am to 1:00pm at the Woodlawn Funeral Home located at 5930 Mullen Road SE, Lacey, Washington.  A graveside service will follow for immediate family only due to attendance restrictions.
