Known throughout his life as “Bert,” Adalbert Martin Baron died peacefully on July 14, 2014, of chronic pulmonary disease. Bert was born on November 11, 1927, in Gilmonton, Minnesota.

Bert married Patricia Ferguson in Boise ID in 1960. They had three children and were divorced in 1970. Bert is survived by son Christopher T. Baron of Roy, WA., daughter Lisa J. Baron Daines of Carlsbad, CA., and son Carl W. Baron of Seattle, WA. Also surviving Bert are his brothers Cyril, Denis, and Thomas and sisters Phyllis Ackerman, Joan Sworski, and Susan Houdek. Bert leaves eighteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. Baron Sr. and Martha Goltz Baron; by his brothers Benedict, Julian, and Francis and by his sisters, Rose Mary DeKoning and Angela Niedzielski.

Bert graduated from Foley, MN. High School and served in the US Army in 1946-47. He received a B.S. from Eastern Washington College of Education in 1954, and an M.S. in Natural Resources from Oregon State College. He worked as a city planner for the Ada County, ID. Planning Commission, then began a long-time career with the WA State Department of Development and Community Affairs. Bert was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Lacey, WA.

Fishing and hunting were favorite pastimes throughout Bert’s life. He loved boating, particularly with his children, on inland waters in Washington. He golfed, and played tennis and racquetball. Bert was a military history buff and prolific home gardener. A kind and generous man, Bert will be missed.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., August 1, at St. George Church in Lacey, followed by a brief reception at the church hall. Burial will take place at Mount Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
