Armida Carmen Hoyer (maiden name “Tapia”)
8/28/30 – 4/16/16

Armida unexpectedly passed away on April 16th at St. Peter’s Hospital as a result of complications following hip surgery. Born in Kellogg, Idaho, she resided primarily in Spokane, Washington, Portland, Oregon, and most recently (for over 30 years) Olympia, Washington. During her career, she was a waitress in some of the finest restaurants in Oregon and Washington, including the Davenport Hotel in Spokane and the Salishan Resort on the Oregon coast.

She had many interests. Some may remember her as “Noodles the Clown” as part of the Red Nose Brigade, participating in many local events. She was a member of Wrinkles of Washington (senior theater performers) and the Red Hat Society. She loved to travel and took several cruises, two with her daughters Cindy and Sandy. She was fond of music, gardening, and decorating. In fact, she would put sparkles on most anything – even sparkled the signs and figurines in her garden. She loved making things beautiful.

Always a great cook, at one time she attended a culinary class at Golden State College in Southern California. In younger days, she really loved to dance. When she wasn’t working, she practically lived in high heels. Her beauty once earned her the title “Miss Union Maid” of Spokane Washington. One of her favorite places was the Oregon Coast and combining trips there with visits to various casinos. She enjoyed playing cards with family and with her dear friends at Providence St. Francis House where she lived, and any time spent with her children. She leaves behind 4 children: Sandra (Daniel) Bell; Curtis Daniel; Heidi (Gronnert) Woodsum; and Cindy (Gronnert) White. She also leaves 7 grandchildren: Christine Daniel- Wanty; James Daniel; Rylee Daniel; Alexander Woodsum; Alicia Woodsum; Armida White; and Jonathan White, plus 10 great-grandchildren: Blake Beddow; Chris Denton; Ryver Wanty; Amanda Daniel; Alex Daniel; Serah Daniel; Sebastian Woodsum; Adrianna Woodsum; Zoey Baker; and her newest, Arabel Baker.

We will miss her beautiful smile, sense of humor and warm hugs. Our hearts are broken. Please help us celebrate her life. Family and friends are invited to attend between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. on May 15th at: Scott Lake Community Center 2631 114th Way, Olympia WA 98512.
