Eric, 68, passed away on December 8, 2019, at his home. He was born on December 29, 1950, to Arthur R. and Georgia Ann (White) Bergh in Olympia, Washington. He lived in the Thurston County area most of his life, with a little stop in Tacoma. He graduated from Olympia High School and the Maritime Academy. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Lejeune and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After the military, he worked in the Fisheries Department for the State of Washington as a Maritime Marine Engineer. Eric also worked in Alaska for the Exxon Valdez during the oil spill, repairing marine vehicles in the clean-up.
Eric loved being outside. He enjoyed being on the water and fishing. He enjoyed motorcycles and the freedom they gave him to be riding in the wind. He liked building or repairing cars. He frequently was out hiking in the mountains or working in his garden. His favorite places to travel were Japan, the Philippines, Hawaii, and Peru.
Eric was a very fun guy to be around and was always making everyone laugh. He loved to tell stories of his travels and stories of his dogs. He adored his terriers.
Eric is survived by his life-partner, Bonnie Allen of Olympia WA and daughter Ru (John) Stevens and son Jay; brother John B Bergh of Olympia WA and nephew Jonathan N Washburn; Sister Kathryn E Sterbick of University Place WA. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur R and Georgia Bergh and nephew Michael J Sterbick III.
