Flora Jean Guenther September 14, 1932 – July 27, 2019 Flora Jean (Nichols) Guenther, 86, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia, WA. She was born on September 14, 1932 in Craig, CO to Amasa Oscar Nichols and Hazel Matilda (Stevenson) Nichols. After her family moved to Washington in the 1930’s, she grew up in Onalaska,WA. She married Harvey Guenther in 1953, and lived in Spanaway, WA. They moved to Mossyrock, WA, in 1969. Flora was a homemaker with many interests: gardening, sewing, camping & fishing, raising chickens, rabbits, goats and other pets. She started being a caregiver during her husband’s illness, and continued in that profession for awhile after he passed away in 1978. She had great joy being with her immediate and extended family. Flora is survived by her children: Marvin (Melody) Guenther, Cindy (Eldon) Shave, Alice (Jerry) Holman, and Phil Guenther. Grandchildren: Leah (Jon) Freeman , Chris (Tiffany) Guenther, Paul Holman, John Holman (Donna Riddell ), Heidi Holman, Calandra (John) Neilson. Great grandchildren: Archer, Barrett, Raylan, Elias, Isaac, Katelynn, Adele, Hazel, Ta-Kashi. Sisters: Marie Parnell, Pearl (Les) Mounts, Irene Carter. And brothers: Clyde (Jean) Nichols, Melvin (Nancy) Nichols, and Nick (Carol) Nichols; and many extended family members. Flora was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Guenther; parents, Oscar and Hazel Nichols; brothers, Louie and George; and twin sister, Laura. A graveside Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held August 8, 2019, at 12:00 p.m., at Claquato Cemetery (142 Stearns Rd. Chehalis, WA 98532). A potluck reception will follow at Fort Borst Park Kitchen #2 , (Fort Borst Park Rd., Centralia, WA 98531). Flora was beloved by many, and will be greatly missed! |
