Irene V. Sjol (Young) was born in the township of Wyzetta in Mountrail County to William and Edna Young on October 6, 1931. She was raised on her parent’s farm and Parshall, North Dakota. She married Wendall Sjol in 1956. She helped raise her two stepchildren, Rick Sjol and Rhonda Sjol, along with her and Wendall’s children, Ron, Renae, and Roxane Sjol; later to be divorced. Irene and her three youngest children moved to Williston, North Dakota in 1968 where she worked as a nursing aid in the nursing home and hospital. She also worked cleaning for different businesses in Williston. Irene loved her children and her friends and everyone loved her also. She was a strong, great lady. Irene married Jim Iverson in 1980 later to be divorced, but always remained friends. In 1992 Irene moved to Lacey, WA to be near her daughters and grandchildren there. Irene was preceded in death by her father, William Young; mother, Edna Young; two brothers, William Jr. and Dale Young; one sister, Shirley Lind; and stepson, Rick Sjol. She is survived by sister, Beverly Pederson; children, Ronald Sjol (Dorothy), Renae Tompkins (Dave), Roxane Forsberg (Mike), and Rhonda Basmajian (Sam); grandchildren, Jason Sjol (Janelle), Daniel Sjol, Mark Griffith (Jessica), Lindsay Griffith, Jory Forsberg (Tiffany), Colby Forsberg, Lavaun Basmajian, Sam Basmajian, Lindsey Scott (Buzz), Brandon Tompkins, and Trevor Tompkins; and 15 great grandchildren. |
