Carol Faye Fraser, 87, died peacefully March 21st, 2018 in Lacey, WA. She was born on April 29th, 1930 in Aberdeen, WA to Oscar and Edith St. Clair. Carol graduated in 1948 from Weatherwax High School and worked as a receptionist for Dr. Boyd Myers and briefly at The Daily World newspaper before marrying John (Jack) Fraser and starting their family in Aberdeen. Carol and Jack enjoyed 67 years together and often traveled. They honeymooned in San Francisco, which remained one of their favorite travel destinations along with San Diego, British Columbia, Charleston, S.C. and the Hawaiian Islands. She was a homemaker and avid volunteer throughout her life, including being a Girls Scout Leader for her eldest daughter, and a Room Mom at school for her youngest. In her retirement years in Olympia, she was a volunteer at Providence St. Peter Hospital for over 20 years. Her passions included a love of music, creating art in many forms, and compassion for animals. Carol’s appreciation for many different genres of music was shared with her family; she and her daughters were pianists, and 2 of her grandchildren are talented singers. In addition to enjoying the beauty of art, Carol was an artist in her own right. Her favorite mediums were watercolors, oil paints and pastels. She spent many afternoons sketching landscapes and botanicals that became artwork proudly displayed in the family home. Carol loved many pets throughout her lifetime and cared deeply for the welfare of animals. She suffered from dementia in the later years of her life and spent the last 2 years in Roo Lan Health Care Center. Prior to that she was home, comforted by her cat and cared for lovingly by Jack and her family. Carol is survived by her devoted husband, Jack of Olympia, WA; 2 daughters and their spouses, Vicki and Michael Taylor of Silverton, OR, Karen and Matthew Kangas of Covington, WA; a son Bruce Fraser of Lakewood, WA; 3 grandsons: Sean Taylor of Hanahan, S.C., Neil Taylor and his wife Tracy of Silverton, OR, Eric Kangas of Covington, WA; 1 granddaughter Lily Faye Kangasof Covington, WA and 2 great-granddaughters, Hallie and Makenzie Taylor of Moncks Corner, S.C.. Condolences may be sent to the family home, or a donation may be made tothe Thurston County Humane Society. A Funeral Mass will be held April 4th at 9am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey, WA, with a reception to follow the mass in Halen Hall at Sacred Heart. |
