Donald Steven Martonik Passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on January 25th. He was 89 years old. He was 89 years old. He was born in Tacoma, WA on August 13,1928. He was the youngest of 6 children born to John L. Martonik and Anna Sopchak, all predeceased. He attended Tacoma Public Schools but left Lincoln High School at age 16 to join the Army transport and serve in World War II. Donald retired from Consolidated Freightways in 1989 after 34 year career After retirement Donald served as volunteer for the Lacey Fire Department, Senior Patrol division. During that time he earned several distinguished community service awards. In June of 2017 Donald and Patricia celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Donald enjoyed many activities including hunting and fishing with his two sons and camping with his entire family especially with his grandchildren. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling around the world with various cruise lines He is survived by his wife Patricia, 2 sons Donald (Nicki) and James (Linda), 5 grandchildren: Mary Martonik, Amy Russell, Jami Peterson, Phillip Martonik and Caitlin Flood, as well is 7 great grandchildren; Savanah, Gabriel, Cole, Tayah, Blake, Ava, and Jasper. Funeral Mass In lieu of flowers a memorial donation can be made in Don’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association. |
