Dale Lamont “Junkman” Marsh, age 78, of Olympia, WA passed away peacefully October 27th, 2017 at Puget Sound Health Care Center. He was one of 13 children born to Melvin and Grace Marsh March 29th, 1939 in Akron, Ohio. Surviving siblings include twin sisters, Darlene McCallister of Tumwater, WA and Charlene Olivera of Modesto, CA.
Dale was widowed by Bonnie Jean Marsh on May 3rd, 1990 (married 30 years) and Linda Lavonne Marsh on March 3rd, 1997 (together 5 years). He is survived by current love, Linda Glisson (together 19 years). Dale, an 8th grade graduate, was a US Army Medic at Fort Bragg. He then went on to help build his family log home. He worked at Simpsons Lumber Mill. He had many fun stories of his time as an oyster shucker with Taylor Shellfish out on Steamboat Island Road.
His many hobbies include being a CB’er as “Junkman K2B9607”, fixing cars with the Lett family, Freeling Auto, known as Marsh Automotive for years. Dale was a proud member of the Yesteryear Car Club of Shelton, WA. He enjoyed showcasing his 1923 Model T that he and his son, Curtis, rebuilt, along with his 1929 Model A. He also visited the elderly, and did parades and car shows. He was willing to strike up a conversation and help anyone and everyone he could.
His surviving children include Curtis Gene Marsh of Lacey, WA, Dalene Louise Mingus of Chester, VA and foster child, Jimmy Koons of Centralia, WA. His surviving grandchildren include Nicole Gulley, Christopher Mingus, Brandon Mingus, Scott Mingus, and Alissa Ralls. His surviving grandchildren include Preston Gulley, Paige Gulley, Chloe Mingus, Scarlet Smith, Jonathan Mingus, James Mingus, and Emma Ralls.
He will be missed by all who knew him. A Farewell Memorial will be held at 5646 Steamboat Island Road, Olympia, WA on November 18th at 2:00PM.
