Irma Maybelle (Haddon) Normandin, 100, of Olympia, Washington passed away peacefully in her sleep February 28, 2017. She was born July 12, 1916 in Tacoma (Midland), Washington, the fourth of nine children, to Frank and Gertrude Walters. She married Rayburn Subers Haddon II on May 18, 1939. They later divorced and on May 8, 1964 she married Edward D. Normandin, who preceded her in death on September 1, 2002.
Irma served for years as a bookkeeper for various businesses in Olympia. What she loved most was family, and her 100th birthday party saw a huge gathering of family and friends coming together to celebrate a century of this matriarchs life. Besides being a devoted mother to her own children she continued to welcome new babies into the family in the final months of her life. She was the “Go-To” person and a “Second-Mother” to four generations. She was “Grandma Irma” to everyone she met and her home was the crossroads for the extended family, a place where there was enough love and care for everyone. She lived a life full of caring for others and well into her 70’s you could find her cleaning house for “Old” people. She also was deeply proud of the fact that, with the exception of the most recent, she had voted in every presidential election since 1936.
Irma is survived by one sister, Lila Richmond, of Gig Harbor, Washington; four children, Rayburn Haddon of Murchison, Texas, Robert Haddon of Medford, Oregon, Dennis Haddon and Gena (Haddon) Clintworth of Olympia, Washington; 16 grand children; 36 great grand children and 22 great-great grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered and solely missed.
She willed be interned with her late husband Ed at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lacey, Washington.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date to be determined by her family.
