Shirley Helen Anargyros Brooks was born on December 2nd, 1918 in Livermore, California and passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side on January 6th, 2015 in Olympia, Washington at the age of 96. She had a deep faith and love of God and passed knowing that she was returning to her heavenly home. Shirley was survived by her sister Eleanor Logsdon and children Leonard and Maria Bastian, John Clements, Tom and Marcia Ballard, James and Carole Cordero, Paul and Julie Lightner, 21 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great-Great Grandchildren. In addition, she was loved by friends Paul and Patty Gauci, Don and Tina Leipski, Ray and Cindy Punzalan, Gene and Birgit Jensen and all of their families. In truth she was loved by so many more. Shirley grew up working in her father’s soda fountains in the Auburn area of California. She lived a vibrant life and loved being around music and people of that era and enjoyed working with her family. She had a love for the written word so in her adult years she worked in various administrative positions before going to work at the Alameda Air Station for the Navy during World War II. Shirley lived a remarkable life and was loved by all that knew her. She enjoyed music, dancing, movies, reading, flowers, sunny days, and trips to the casino with her family and friends. She had a quick smile and a great sense of humor until the end. She will always be remembered and missed by those lucky enough to have known her. “Be of good cheer; it is I: be not afraid.” Matthew 14:21 |
