Jeannette O. Banter, 75 died Tuesday February 2nd, 2016 in Olympia, WA at St. Peters Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born in Scottsbluff, NE on April 6th, 1940. She was born to Orville & Alma Monasmith. Her father was an Electrician, so they moved a lot throughout her school days. She graduated in 1958 from Sunnyvale high school in California. She married Dick Banter in 1963, they adopted their daughter, April, in 1970, and in 1974 they moved to Rochester, WA, where they built Whispering Woods Mobile Home Park. In the early 80’s she worked at Seattle Trust in Lacey, WA. She then sold Real Estate for many years before becoming the Executive Secretary for OTCAR (Olympia Thurston County Association of Realtors). She was there for more than 10 years. She was the fastest typist I have ever known, over 170 words per minute. They participated in the Lakefair Bed Races numerous times, and then she worked at SMU St. Martins University in the Engineering Dept. She worked there for 4 & 1/2 years and retired in July 2005.
She enjoyed her retirement with longtime partner Don Happle. They enjoyed gardening, reading & doing puzzles. She also enjoyed watching her grand kids in their various activities, from dog shows with her Granddaughter, Morgan, to little league football with her Grandson, Logan.
She always had a smile on her face and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She spent the last 2 years living at Brookdale Senior Living in Olympia, WA. While there, she enjoyed playing Bingo & other games. She is survived by her Daughter, April (Brian) Hamilton, Granddaughter, Morgan & grandson, Logan, all of Olympia, WA.
She is preceded in death by her Parents & Brother.
Memorial services will be on Sunday, February 21st, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Peace Lutheran Brethren Church, 2242 Friendly Grove Rd NE, Olympia, WA
