Herman Kenneth Johnson

It is with great sadness that the family of Herman K. Johnson announces his passing on January 12, 2016 at 6:23 pm at Harborview Medical Center. He was only 64.

Herman K. Johnson was born on August 18, 1951 in Sewanee, Tennessee, a son of Herman & Olline Johnson. He married Ingeborg Kleinhans on August 25, 1972 in Gelnhausen, Germany. Herman K. Johnson will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Inge, of 43 years, his son David (Lisa) & daughter Nickie (Bill). He will also be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren, Chase, Ethan, Christian, Haley & Kylie. He will also be greatly missed by his sisters, Brenda, Carol & Sue along with many nieces, nephews & cousins. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Bobby, Lawrence, Billy & Wayne.

Herman K. Johnson served 22+ years in the U.S. Army. He is a Vietnam veteran. He did many tours overseas. He later worked for and retired from Intercity Transit in Olympia.

He was a devoted husband, father, Opa, brother, uncle, cousin & friend. His laughter and giving spirit will be forever missed. His passions included hunting, fishing, golfing, yard work & volunteering for the VA golf course in Lakewood. He was also a lifelong fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and Titans. He also enjoyed taking day trips to the ocean and the mountains. He especially enjoyed taking vacations to Maui with his wife, Inge, and just spending time with his family and friends. He had the ability to light up the room with his smile and easily crack jokes to make people laugh. He was a very positive person, nothing could get him down. He loved good southern food and the occasional shot of moonshine. He led by example. He was an exceptional hard worker & taught his kids to work hard for good results. He is a great example of what a husband, father, grandfather & friend should be. He was absolutely the most generous and giving person we will ever know. Herman K. Johnson is truly an amazing man.

A Military Funeral Honors Ceremony will be held at 2:30 on January 20th at the Tahoma National Cemetery. 18600 SE 240 St, Kent, WA, 98042.
