Gary Jay Pope, 66, passed away on October 27, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of Susan Pope, who shared in 44 years of marriage together. Born in Orange, Texas he was the son of Samuel and Naomi Pope. As a child of the Navy, Gary lived much of his childhood in various locales…Louisiana, Oregon, California, Illinois and the Philippines among them. He graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. He was employed for the majority of his life at various cedar mills in Washington State and finally at Westside Music and Arts Music Store as a sales associate. He was also a member of Neighborhood Christian Center where he enjoyed playing his bass and drums for the worship team. In his free time, he enjoyed taking his wife on motorcycle rides, playing his bass, and spending time with his family, oftentimes at the beach. He will be remembered for his love of scripture, music, his friendly hospitality, and his big laugh. He is survived by his wife Susan, his brother, Ron Pope, his daughters Teresa and Lisa (and husband Keith), and granddaughters Anna and Alissa. A celebration of life will be held at Evergreen Community Church, 1000 Black Lake Blvd., Olympia. WA 98502, on Saturday, November 7, at 1 PM. |
