Yutrina Luana Teuteulealaolealii Umu, 32, passed away on January 6, 2021 at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia, Washington. She was born on November 29, 1988 in Fort Riley, Kansas.
Beloved Yutrina Umu was taken from us too soon due to Covid-19. A beautiful, humble, selfless daughter, sister, fiancé, favorite aunty, niece, cousin, best friend and friend. Yutrina had a way of reaching everyone’s hearts by being that quiet spirit to help where needed and captured the hearts of so many by her constant presence.
She is survived by mother Linemata (Loisulu-deceased) Umu; fiancé Jacek Leuma; Brothers Loisulu J. (Haleaka) Umu, David (Hayley) Umu, Robert (Nohea) Umu, Richard (Jennifer) Umu; Sisters Yvonne (Ofa) Penitusi, Sohui Andres, and 15 nieces/nephews.
Yutrina was a graduate of River Ridge High School and received her Bachelors Degree from the University of Washington. Yutrina’s personal, spiritual, and professional life encompassed a common theme “selflessly helping others so they may overcome and thrive”. You could always count on her to come through for you in times of need and her unforgettable laughter and humor would spark smiles that would help anyone during tough times. Her fond memories included helping with the children’s ministry at the Amataga Fou and the Laumua Group. She shared her compassionate qualities at her recent profession as a Supported Employment Job Coach at Goodwill. Yutrina worked with intellectually developmentally disabled individuals and always made sure they felt “valued” while working diligently to support their quality of life.
