A visitation will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home located at 5930 Mullen Rd SE (Ruddell and Mullen). Following the visitation a Potluck Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Olympia Yacht Club located at 201 Simmons St. NW (next to Bayview Market). The VFW Color Guard will be conducting the service.

Sully was born in Whitehall, MT and began residing in Olympia following service in the United States Air Force. He worked for many years at the Mc Chord Air Force Base. In addition, he owned McCoy’s Tavern in downtown Olympia.

His love of sports led him to a lifelong participation himself; Four letterman at Twin Bridges, MT high school, the Rodeo, NW Midget Car Racer, Hydro Racer, City League Basketball and an avid reader of the sports page.

He was a life member of the Olympian Yacht Club, the VFW and the Am-Vets. He was also a member of South Sound Cruising Club, the American Legion, the Hoquiam Elks and the VFW/Am-Vets Camping Club, the Happy Hookups.

He spent many years plying the waters of Puget Sound as well as traveling up into Canada on his boat, the Rainbeau. He was proud of his tenure as Commodore of South Sound Cruising Club. He next moved on to RVing. Many hours were spent enjoying camping in the great outdoors with family and friends, especially with the Happy Hookups Camp Club.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, who endowed him with her five children who loved him dearly; Debbie Coop (Dan) of Susanville, CA, Jim Knutsen of Olympia, Wendy Fisher (James) of Welches, OR, Becky Teutsch (Brandon) of Lewiston, ID and Kristine Knutsen of Vancouver, WA, his brother, Loren, of Missoula, MT and sister, Vivian, of  Dillon, MT, seven grandchildren, Brandon Coop (Christina), Maryanne Knutsen, Alexandria Knutsen (pursey), Ryver Hankins, Tyler Knutsen, Haley Hankins, and Jessica Teutsch. Four great-grandchildren were the Joy of his life; Bryan, Gauge, Arianna and Drake.

In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the VFW or an organization of your choice.

Please leave memories on this website. Thank you.
