Joseph William Sugrue, 81 years old, passed away on May 10th, 2020 in Olympia Washington. He was born on August 10, 1938 in Waterbury Connecticut to Daniel and Mary (Brown) Sugrue. Joseph lived in Waterbury for the beginning of his life, graduating from Crosby High School there and later received his Associates Degree from Arizona State. He joined the United State Air Force in 1955, and was honorably discharged in 1957. For most of his adult life, he was a self-employed private investigator. In 1960, Joseph married the love of his life, Carmen Judith Dionne, in Wolcott Connecticut. Together, they raised three children, sons Daniel and Sean, and daughter Kimberly.

Joseph loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed trains and magic. He was a wonderful artist and loved to draw. Joseph was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He is also a member of St Pius V Catholic Church in Buena Park California.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carmen; sons Daniel J. (Dawn) Sugrue and Sean P. (Katherine) Sugrue; daughter Kimberly J. (Scott) Kahle; five grandchildren Ashley, Ben, Ian, Sydney and Brenna; and four great-grandchildren Chelsea, Ryan, Raegan, and Rylee. He was met in Heaven by John Sugrue, Catherine Sugrue, Ann (Sugrue) Tyburski, James Sugrue, and Donald Sugrue.
