ELOISE J. CARROLL
Born in Duluth, MN to William R. Frye and Ruth (Harrison) Frye. Her parents and all siblings Naomi, Dorothy, Virginia, Jessica, Ruthie, Harrison (Bud) and Roscoe all preceded her in death.

Eloise graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane in 1945 and attended Kinman Business University there. She was a member of Alpha Iota business sorority and participated in volunteer work with them through the 1950’s. She was employed at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist of Spokane and married there in 1948 to Richard Nobel Carroll. They owned and operated a service station in Spokane for several years and mobile home parks in Renton and Lacey until their divorce in 1980. Eloise worked as a homemaker and business partner until 1972 when she went to work as a secretary for the State Division of Vocational Rehabilitation in Olympia until her retirement in 1987.

Eloise resided in Spokane until 1963, Renton until 1967, and finally Lacey until her death at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia on Friday December 2, 2016 at the age of 89 ½. Her last day she was surrounded and comforted by her 4 grown children, their spouses, and her grandchild.

Previous memberships she had enjoyed: Toastmistress, Wanderers’ Hiking Club, and Good Sam Flotsam RV Club. Her hobbies included travelling abroad and in her motorhome, hiking, gardening, playing the organ, genealogy, pinochle, crossword puzzles, reading books, keeping up with current news, plus a Mariners’ baseball fan. She especially enjoyed camping and spending time with her children and her beloved granddaughter Kayla. Always an active person, Eloise took up volunteer work in her later years. She was a strong, adventurous woman who enjoyed her independence and wasn’t afraid to try new things later in life.
Her travels took her all over Mexico, Europe, China, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Tahitian Islands, Greece, and Canada. Stateside she had trips to Florida, the South, E. Coast, AZ, UT, WY, SD, MT, CA, OR, NV, ID, AK, Hawaiian Islands, MN, San Antonio, TX, and lots of WA.

Survivors include her son Richard (Jennifer), Lacey; daughter Susan (Hugh), Seattle; daughter Melody (Mark), Tenino; daughter Nancy (Jim), Olympia; and grandchild Kayla (Aaron), Olympia; plus 5 nephews, 6 nieces, 25 great nieces/nephews, and many cousins. She will be missed by all.
