This is what I said at your Celebration of Life, this is the safe place to put it. I miss you, and love you. Opening Words Thank you all for coming to celebrate the lives of my departed loved ones. I apologize if I cannot introduce everyone, so please introduce yourselves. I would like to say a few words about them and then Bart our local superstar and my dad’s longtime neighbor will sing a few songs as tribute. Bart has been blessed with a special talent, his voice. My brother Brownie( Elden Lloyd Brown), he loved people, dogs, he loved to play the guitar, and compose music, and he loved go fish and also to party.. He lived his life as he wanted. He passed on New Years Eve on Dec. 31, 2012. (one of the most celebrated party days of course  Bart will be playing one of his favorite songs, as a tribute to him, Stairway to Heaven. Next I would like to honor my mom, Patricia Lee Brown. She passed on August 13, 2013 . She is missed everyday. There are so many memories I have with her and grateful for and I wont’ be able to share them all. We had wonderful holidays, barbecues and special times together and so many laughs. She was a keen person about living life and about the afterlife. A few things about her you may not know. Her middle name was in honor of Lee Steffler. His brother Glenn would say this little poem about my mom when she was a kid. Patty Hough you are a merry old soul, you’ll go to heaven in a sugar bowl. He knew way back then just how sweet she was. One of her hobbies she liked was to paint, and she was good at it. Some of her paintings are displayed here, but she did many. Bart will sing a tribute song for her. One of her favorites… Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. My Dad’s notice means a lot to me, the photo on the front was one during the recent snow storm we had, and we watched the sun come up together on many mornings. The Psalm inside was one that I memorized and recited at the East Olympia Church when I was about 9 years old after I was baptized. My Dad was strong and had no fear when it was his time walk in that valley, he was never much of a complainer. The inside is his photo, which was special to me, it was taken on his 87th Birthday and we were going to see his longtime doctor. I had a surprise party with family later in the day. It was a good day! His obituary is on the inside if you unfold it, it only tells a portion of his life. Some little things I recall about my Dad when I was a kid he would always carry a band aid in his wallet, I know a belt is worn in case you need a fast tourniquet or climb a tree. He would only give you gum if you asked then only ½ stick making that Double mint last twice as long. He jumped in Nisqually River and showed us how to float it to save our lives in case we fell in. He taught us how to camp, to fish and to clean them too. He took us blackberry and huckleberry picking, He always said if you don’t pick you don’t eat the pie, and if you get lost in the woods stay put! He once threw me in Spanaway Lake when we were watching Hydroplane Races, I thought I was drowning and stood up only to have water around my knees. Yep, he was that dad. He had hero moments, like the time he saw a car accidents and stopped and yelled at the guy not to leave the car so he would not be electrocuted on live wires, or the time at East Olympia Store, when a kid was in a car and the driver left it running and the kid knocked it out of gear and my Dad jumped out of his car and stopped that car before it veered into the gas pumps! Of course the driver got a scolding afterwards. My dad would give you gum, but only ½ stick of Double mint making it last twice as long. My dad raised me with old fashioned values and he could put the fear into you being gruff, but in his golden years he was very tender hearted. Some of his favorite things besides his family were watching Westerns, he liked hummingbirds. In the snow storm one came to the window, so when you see one think of him, or when you watch the Coalminers Daughter, or hear Lasso the Moon. He also loved nature, and many animals roam these woods, especially deer. Anyone that knew him knows he had giant hands, and I was told he sewed cloth diapers for my brother on a treadle sewing machine. My Dad worked hard for everything he acquired, he was always a good provider and I thank him for never being in need, and he helped many. Thank you all again for being here today, the support is very appreciated. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my husband for his constant support and acts of kindness during one of the most difficult and challenging of times. I feel blessed to have such wonderful memories and with my parents mindset they would want everyone to move forth and be happy.
