Evans_CharlesDr. Charles “Chuck” O. Evans DDS was born in Dryden, Washington September 13, 1931 to Gordon and Marjorie Evans.   A graduate of Dryden High School in 1949 He earned his D.D.S. from the University of Washington Dental School where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.  After college he was commissioned in the Army as a Captain at Fort Lewis.   His entire life Chuck enjoyed working with his hands and was a gifted craftsman.  In the 1960’s, he parlayed his talent into a successful and respected dental practice, where he was known for his skill and his artistry.  “Dr. Evans” practiced for over 30 years in Parkland, WA, providing service to his community and beyond, including state senators and congressmen who sought him out for his reputation.  Upon retirement, he fully transferred his skill from “tooth work” to woodwork and felt most comfortable with a toolbelt on and a hammer in his hand.  “Dr. Evans” became “Mr. Fix It.”   In 1954 he married Velma Meister (d. 2006).  They were married 24 years.  In June 1979, Chuck married his beloved Josie. Spending 35 full years with her exploring all that life has to offer.   Chuck competed nationally in downhill ski races.  He piloted small planes, he biked with his friends, and nearly every day he got up early and “went to work” on his properties.   His first love was golf.  He was one of the oldest members still playing golf at the Tacoma Golf & Country Club, where he was known for his golf game and his vibrant clothing style.  Chuck is survived by his wife Josie, his brother Richard (Gail), his children Mike (Laura), Marsha, Dan, Susan (Joe), and his stepdaughter Jill (Sam).   His grandchildren Natalie, Trisha, Luke, John, and Iain. His niecesTammy, Hannah and Cindy, and nephews Mark, David, Rick, Ryan, Robert, Murray, Jessie and Mark.

Service to be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 2pm at the Woodlawn Funeral Home in Lacey with the reception following the service at Ricardo’s at 5211 Lacey Blvd SE, Lacey, WA(413-9995)

Memorials may be made in his name to:  The University of Washington Dental School divided equally between the Tucker Gift Fund and the Dental Alumni Scholarship; and Pacific Lutheran University for scholarships for students from Pierce County.
