I was the orderly room clerk for First Sergeant Herrera from about July 1975 to around June 1977. He was one the best bosses to work for and a good person to me. He took care of me as his clerk until the day the the orderly rooms were combined to battalion headquarters. I did good work for him to as when we were inspected by the IG, we all received commendations for our orderly room. This time period was when were assigned to the Combat Support Company, 3rd Battalion, 39th Infantry, Fort Lewis, Washington. I think of him often and wished I could have been there to visit before his passing.

I miss my father.

My father enjoyed catching and eating fish. This is a picture of my father, brother Thomas, and me after a hard day of walleye fishing on the Potholes Reservoir.
