Our free spirit, one of a kind mom, sister, aunt and friend died May 22, 2017 in Lacey, WA. She was born Sondra Irene Ebeling, daughter of Art and Evelyn, on June 13, 1938, in Hardin, MT. She attended school in Hardin and loved her classmates of HHS 1956. She married Francis “Bud” Rick in 1959. She was active in the Custer Battlefield Reenactment for several years and liked to golf, camp, bowl, cook and entertain.
Her passion was evident in everything she did and she excelled in making friends at the first hello and cultivating friendships at every destination. Her adventurous spirit was seen in all: being a wife, a mother, a friend, and a worker.
She loved to laugh, told absolutely inappropriate jokes and gathered friends everywhere she went. Her life was full of adventure, pain, fun, and love. A piece of her unbridled spirit lives on in all of us. She taught us how to be fearless and courageous.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Sheryl Lynn. She is survived by her daughters, Shelly Rick (Jayme Willis) of Chatsworth, CA and Cathy Rick-Joule (Peter Joule) of Dunedin, FL; sister, Sharon Grubbs (Mark Noennig) of Billings, MT, nieces Tennys Enders (Jason) and Whitney Grubbs (Cris Moss) of Portland, OR, and Jason Grubbs (Perrin) of Billings, MT.
Sondra never had a boring day and shared her generous spirit through her great laugh, amazing sense of humor and her love of friends and life. She will take the party with her.
A celebration of her life will be held in Yelm, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local women’s shelter.
