Roger W. McIntyre, 68, passed away on February 15, 2015.  He was surrounded by many family and friends in the days preceding his death.  He was the youngest of four children born in Burien, to Goldie and Roy McIntyre.  While in the US Army he met the dear of his life, Jan Henderson at Fort Ord, CA.  They married in December 1966.  They made their home in Yelm with their two children Debora and Chris.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mick and his son.  He is survived by his wife Jan, daughter Debora, daughter in law Holly, sister Margot and brother Dave.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren and many extended family and friends, all of whom remember him with hugs, kisses, laughter, stories, and his love of life and the outdoors.

Roger worked hard in the family’s fuel distribution business and eventually became owner and operator of Four M Fuel.  He retired in 1995 due to health issues.  In his younger years with his family, he was very involved in the local community volunteering his time.  He coached for Prairie Soccer Club and YHS soccer.  He was an avid sports fan and outdoors man.

He never met a stranger and loved people of all ages.  He became a fixture at the local hardware store and pawn shop. He enjoyed helping customers and was always readily available when needed.  As his grandson Branden recalls; “My grandpa always said, keep your nose clean, work hard and do something good when you are able.”

Woodlawn Funeral Home has a memorial board in Roger’s name for those wishing to share their condolences.  A Celebration of Life Potluck is planned for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Nisqually Pines Community Club.  In lieu of flowers, please provide a dish for the celebration.
