Hollis Russell Goff, 91 was born September 20, 1925, in a small farmhouse in Minidoka County, Idaho and passed away on April 17, 2017 at his home in Lacey, Washington. In 1943-1946, after graduating from Rupert High School, Idaho, Hollis served in the U.S. Navy as a frogman with the rank of Lieutenant. After completion of his naval service, he completed his college career, attending Whitman College, Columbia University and the University of Idaho where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.

Hollis retired from the Washington State Highway Department after serving for thirty years which included several major projects throughout the Northwest as well as administrative duties at the state capital in Olympia.  He spent the next several years as a private consultant for many independent projects in Washington and Oregon.

Hollis was the primary caregiver and faithful companion to his beloved wife, Irene, who went to be with the Lord and son, Larry in 2015.  He lived an admirable and humble life, and was a thankful, happy man who will be greatly missed by his three children, ten grandchildren, fifteen great grand children and others whose lives he touched with his witty humor and caring and always welcome presence.

A memorial service will be held on June 2, 2017, 9:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 812 Bowker St. SE, Lacey, WA.
